The best views, best food, great facilities and lovely owner
Breakfast is awesome. The facilities immaculate, the views incredible and Carole the owner is lovely.
As a camper for over forty years and a regular reviewer on ukcampsite, I don't give five stars easily, however this was very much my kind of campsite. Perched up high, overlooking Grizedale, no signs to speak of but no problem finding on Google Maps. Welcome was warm and pointed to a satisfying spot, not too far down the grassy field so as not to get stuck in wet weather. Possibly the quietest site I've ever stayed on (aside from mooing cows and bleating sheep) and the views of the milky way were stunning - including a red shimmering mars! Plenty of walks nearby and possibly the best pub I've eaten in to date (which I've also given five stars). My leisure battery packed up, so the site owner lent me some freezer blocks which got me through my two night stay. My only recommendations are; more walking maps and some hot water in the washing up area (resolved by taking hot water from nearby toilets) - this is one camp site I shall definitely be returning to.
Great, quiet campsite with amazing views all around and lovely views. Clean toilets and showers with washing up facilities as well which is always handy. Also being very close to Grizedale forest is a big bonus as well! Would highly recommend!
We've recently returned from a weeks camping here. What a wonderful place. Carole is a fantastic host. Anything we wanted was no trouble at all. So welcoming and friendly. The campsite itself is also lovely. Back to nature, no marked out pitches, you just camp where you want. Beautiful landscape. The facilities were immaculate. In fact, I think Carole is a robot because she never sleeps. We saw her early morning and late at night keeping the place maintained. Thanks again for a brilliant holiday. We shall definitely return.
