Interesting place, nicely decorated, take switch, there is a cocktail lounge on the upper floor, we popped in but it appeared to be a bit of a youth club..
What a great pub. Always busy and full of atmosphere. Good selection of beers and wine. Restaurant on the first floor and cocktail bar on the second floor.
Excellent food..fish and chips were amazing the batter light,crisp and fresh..drinks a little more expensive but very good. Not as busy as the other pubs but more of a restaurant. Good value
I discovered this charming old pub on a day trip to Ulverston. It has a cosy bar area with log burners, a dining area at the back and a spiral staircase leading up to a restaurant and cocktail bar. You can still see the old waterwheel through an internal window and read about the mill's history. The timeline on the wall is fascinating! It was the weekend of the Dickensian Festival and the pub was packed but I managed to get a seat near the bar. Lovely Sunday roast - thick and tender slices of beef, well cooked roast potatoes and veg, generous helpings and piping hot - followed by a delicious apple crumble and ice-cream. The two courses cost just 13. Wine was a bit on the expensive side but the coffee was very good. Pleasant and friendly service. My only criticism is that it took them a long time to clear my table of the previous occupants' cups but then it was very busy! A nice pub and a nice town, would definitely return!
Tried it for our regular "Sunday roast day" . Yorkshire puddings were perfect, gravy was great, roast spuds were superb. This must be the best Sunday roast in the area. Very good staff and quick service. We'll be back Jack
